The ACS WI Local Section offers several grant opportunities to help our student members participate in professional societies and engage in research. Follow the steps below to apply for one of our grants!
Step 1: Become an ACS Member
The American Chemical Society offers several affordable levels of membership for students. Any level of membership is acceptable to apply for our Local Section Grants – just make note of your ACS Member Number!
Step 2: Become an ACS Wisconsin Local Section Member
If you chose the ACS Premium Level of Membership, then you can select a local section to join – make sure you select the Wisconsin Local Section.
If you chose the ACS Basic Level of Membership, you can still become an Affiliate Member of the Wisconsin Local Section. Membership is $2/year and can be completed online.
Step 3: Apply for Grants
We offer three different grant opportunities for students and post docs:
Undergraduate Summer Research Support
Participation in research in the chemical sciences is crucial for the development of the next generation of scientists. Because of this, the ACS WI Local Section has established a program that aims to support summer research endeavors of ACS student members. Successful applicants will receive between $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the level of need, quality of the application and the number of applicants. Funds from this award will be paid directly to the student researcher and can be used to support their research, cover living and/or travel expenses while conducting their research, and/or pay for student tuition related to their research. To be eligible, applicants must be undergraduate students enrolled at a higher education institution within the ACS WI Local Section and be majoring in chemistry, chemical engineering or biochemistry to be eligible. Preference will be given to students who have not previously received the Summer Research Support.
Application Deadline: May 15th of current year
Membership in Scientific Organizations
